Weight and jabs.

As Hui En is now weighing at 2.6 kgs., it is time to look into the fact that she should be given her BCG jab.

UPDATE: Have made a booking with her pediatrician for her BCG jab. (on 10 Feb.)

Discharged from Polyclinic.

There is good news today. Hui En was discharged from the Polyclinic as her bilirubin level dropped further (to 136 umol/l). The doctor decided to discharge her after her bilirubin continued to show a downward trend. Today, she also got her blood sample tested for her liver functions. Results will be known soon – but it is a ‘No News Is Good News’ scenario. The polyclinic will call us if there is some cause of concern.

Furthermore, today Hui En is 2 weeks old. Her weight now is 2.6 kgs. An increase of 200 grams in 2 weeks.

Here are a few shots taken by Wei Wei today showing how a contented and happy baby Hui En is. (maybe she knows that she was discharged today)

Also, many thanks to Loon, who took the trouble to consult with Bethany’s pediatrician about Hui En’s jaundice. Appreciate it, Sis.

Hui En’s mom is doing well!

Wei Wei went to a follow-up check with her gynae earlier. Everything is OK. The wound is healing well and thing looks good. To me, I hope that there is not much of a emotional roller coaster (leading to post-natal blues?). I will try to be as supportive that I can. I know that sometimes things could get rough for Wei Wei.

I will try to get a photo of Wei Wei and post it here. But since she is in ‘Confinement’, she wears the ‘sarong’ most of the time and I felt that it is not that presentable.

But lo! When I arrived home today, Wei Wei was wearing track bottoms today! OK. So here is a photo of Wei Wei with Hui En in our living room.

p/s: Afiq has bought a suit and a pair of socks for Hui En. Thanks, Afiq!

Not feeding well.

Hui En does not seem to be feeding well today. My wife is worried. Any comments anyone?

Today’s bilirubin level dropped!

There was good news at the Polyclinic today. Hui En’s bilirubin level has dropped to the 140s level. Her mother took some shots of her sleeping today. Below are a sample of them.

Things seems to be stabilising.

Today’s Hui En’s bilirubin level seems to be stabilising. Today’s reading was 169 umol/l. (as was yesterday) Tomorrow she will need not go for her blood check. But will have to go again on Saturday.

Photos below were taken on 26 Jan.

Hui En’s bilirubin level up again!

Hui En’s bilirubin level was checked out to be at 169 umol/l today, another 10 units increase. Today is the second straight day that her level has gone up since leaving KKH. Am a little concerned about it but currently the doctor said that there was nothing much that we can do except to monitor the situation.

And she began sucking her thumb!

Bilirubin level update.

Hui En’s bilirubin level was 159 umol/l today. (23 Jan.) That is a 10 unit increase as compared to yesterday’s levels when she was discharged from KKH. But the situation is still managable and will be further monitored tomorrow at the Polyclinic.

Jaundice.

Hui En was admitted to KK Hospital on 20 Jan. 2007 as her jaundice condition worsened. (when she was discharged from East Shore Hospital, her bilirubin level was 140 umol/l, her level on 20 Jan. was 260+ umol/l) Her condition improved after spending a few days under photo theraphy. (bilirubin levels returned to around 140 umol/l) She was discharged on 22 Jan. 2007. Below is a photo of Hui En upon her return.

Introducing Hui En.

Here is a photo of my new-born daughter, Hui En. She was born on 16 Jan. 2007. Weighing 2.4 kgs. Length: 48 cm.
