Hui En woke up with a high fever today. Her mother measured it and it was at 39.5 degrees Celsius. She was then taken to the polyclinic next door. She was subsequently referred to
KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. There, her temperature has risen to 40.1 degrees. Checks and X-ray showed that Hui En has infected lungs. The next 3 days is going to be crucial and her fever will have to be cleared by then (Friday afternoon). If the situation is not addressed, water might collect in her lungs and this could be fatal. (but this only occurs in 5% to 10% of the all the cases)
We decided to give her the utmost care rather than placing her in the hospital. According to the doctor, there is nothing that cannot be given (in terms of care, not facilities) that cannot be provided at home with much love. If there is a deterioration in Hui En’s condition, then we can always send her to KKH.
