Singtel Singapore F1 GP.

Yesterday was THE DAY of the inaugural Singapore F1. Many have spoken on how it will be written into history when Singapore held its first F1 race and also the first night race in F1 history.

Many have voiced their concern on the timing of the race, including some of the drivers. Practice session commenced at 11 pm on Friday (26 Sep.) and the same too, for the qualifying race on Saturday (27 Sep.) The race was at 8 pm. The concern was that at being such late in the day, the body could not function optinally for the race. All of the teams have opted to stay working based on European time zone. However, after the race, the first F1 night race has been declared a success!

Those who doubted the lighting initially were impressed by it after the race weekend. They were worried about the shadows, intensity of the light, affects of rain, etc. But the drivers have mentioned that the lighting system is excellent! The consultant for the lighting system is Valerio Maioli S.p.A. from Italy. Here are some article on the lighting systems: Article 1. Article 2.

And here is the link to my Facebook page where some (not all of it, yet) of the photos are parked: My Facebook photos.

I’ve enjoyed myself tremendously during the course of the race weekend and will volunteer myself again for the race in 2009.
